@Lu-Ann: The only thing I can offer for the .doc files is installing Libre Office. Installing a second office suite is probably a bit overkill for your needs, but I'm not a Mac user and don't know of any good file viewers off hand.

For the the video files however, two ideas spring to mind. The first is you might suggest to your friends that they upload their videos to YouTube and send you the link. That's a lot easier than trying to email a really huge video file. Alternatively, you might want to try the free VLC media player. Not only is there a Mac version, but VLC plays every video format I've ever tried. Playing WMV on a Mac should be no problem.

Thanks Blair!
so thorough and easy to understand! i have been trying for years to tighten up security on my mac but never trusted the info on the internet. any friend of mary's is definitely a trusted source!
one way i have found of getting around the incompatability deal with docs and files is to have the sender save/send them as pdf, rtf or some such that is compatable. i still have folks who send me .wmv or .doc files cuz the just don't get it. since it's not about business for me i just sigh and hit delete....

E-banking will be a high risk if the system is not secure. Audit trail and protection systems must be reliable. A number of banks in Indonesia was attacked through exploitation of weaknesses in the ATM. But that case was resolved quickly and encourage the Bank of Indonesia to review and implement a better security system.

I like the ease of posting and sharing photos on Facebook.

It is requiring more filtering of annoying gifts, quizzes, and memes lately though.

We're all aware of each other's presence on Facebook, but to tell the truth I'm thinking seriously of dumping it. There's no Kool-Aid quotient involved, from what I can tell, but it is a serious waste of time.
